We are a skilled and educated team of people from diverse backgrounds who have a passion to make a difference to your child’s learning.
We support your children in the classroom, one on one or in small group settings. We encourage and enable students to achieve their full potential as lifelong learners.
We have on going training and professional development to ensure our skills are up to date with current educational practices.
We have all chosen to work at Marian because we not only care about children’s education but we value the Special Character and community spirit of Marian Catholic School.
By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.
I have been the Property Manager/Caretaker at Marian School since 2006. As part of my job I am also involved with the Enviroschools group. The restoration of the gully with the planting of native trees has been something I have taken a keen interest in during my time here.
Outside school I enjoy time with family, travelling, movies, reading and I have been seen heading out of town with a surfboard.
Pastoral Care & International Student Co-ordinator
This is my second year at Marian school and I really enjoy working alongside students and teachers. Over the last term I have moved into a new role as Pastoral care assistant, which involves working with our international students. This is a role I love. Interacting with children and learning all about their cultures, while at the same time teaching them about ours is a wonderful experience. Most importantly, I enjoy making all of our families feel welcome.
I have been teaching part-time at Marian Catholic School since 2016. In 2017 I was a relief teacher in Team 3 & 4 and taught 1 day a week in Room 17 Year ⅞. This year I am teaching 1 day a week in Room 8 for Nicki Whyte as she carries out her busy DRS role at Marian & I am leading the Year 4-6 Concert Choir which I love! I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature & Education, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and a TEFL Certificate in teaching English as a foreign language.
I have a keen interest in the French language and culture after living in France for 12 months in 2014 with my husband and 3 children.
I began teaching in 1998 where I taught Year 7 & 8 at South New Brighton School in Christchurch. A wonderful start for me. When moving to Matakana in 2006, I began teaching Year 5 at Matakana Primary School. During this time I produced several School Productions and Performing Arts festivals, lead the Concert Choir as well as our annual “Matakana’s Got Talent” Gala day show. In 2012 I started teaching Music, Drama and Te Reo at the Mahurangi Montessori Unit and enjoyed this experience very much
Over the past 20 years I have taught full and part-time while raising 3 children and running a boutique wine import business with my husband. A nice complimentary addition to teaching!
I am a keen singer/ dancer and have always found a way to bring these two elements into the classroom whenever I can. I love gardening, theatre, watching movies and matching good food with beautiful wine.
I love the special character of Marian Catholic School. Our youngest son has had 3 very happy years here. I enjoy working with such a dedicated, hardworking team. I enjoy the moments we take to reflect and be thankful for what we have. Also to pray for family and friends in need.
