During my teaching career I have taught a range of levels, and I am drawn to the junior area, I believe this is where many children's educational journey’s begin. As a teacher at this level I work to inspire children to develop a positive attitude towards their learning.
I enjoy working with the families and community to develop a nurturing environment where the children are confident to explore their worlds and know they have the support.. A core part of our school is the special character , through this I work to teach the children how unique and loved they are. As St. Catherine of Siena says, “ Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire”.
Together with my family I enjoy the outdoors, whether it is cycling, walking, gardening, or helping out on the farm Time spent supporting my own children in their pursuits is another one of my favourite things.
Tricia started as a teacher and then served on a Mission Station in Vanuatu for three Years. She returned to her hometown of Invercargill and spent nine years working as a Chaplain at the Invercargill Prison. From there she moved to Geraldton, Western Australia and worked as the Support Officer to Victim’s of Crime for sixteen years as well as working on a Programme for those people who had multiple barriers to employment. She was then asked to move into management for the agency she was employed by, as the Programmes Manager, where she was responsible for working with the Counselling Team, the Volunteer Service, and the smaller offices in more remote areas of the outback.

We have all chosen to work at Marian because we not only care about children’s education but we value the Special Character and community spirit of Marian Catholic School.
By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.
I have been the Property Manager/Caretaker at Marian School since 2006. As part of my job I am also involved with the Enviroschools group. The restoration of the gully with the planting of native trees has been something I have taken a keen interest in during my time here.
Outside school I enjoy time with family, travelling, movies, reading and I have been seen heading out of town with a surfboard.
Pastoral Care & International Student Co-ordinator
This is my second year at Marian school and I really enjoy working alongside students and teachers. Over the last term I have moved into a new role as Pastoral care assistant, which involves working with our international students. This is a role I love. Interacting with children and learning all about their cultures, while at the same time teaching them about ours is a wonderful experience. Most importantly, I enjoy making all of our families feel welcome.
I am leading the Year 4-6 Concert Choir which I love! I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature & Education, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and a TEFL Certificate in teaching English as a foreign language.
I have a keen interest in the French language and culture after living in France for 12 months in 2014 with my husband and 3 children.
I began teaching in 1998 where I taught Year 7 & 8 at South New Brighton School in Christchurch. A wonderful start for me. When moving to Matakana in 2006, I began teaching Year 5 at Matakana Primary School. During this time I produced several School Productions and Performing Arts festivals, lead the Concert Choir as well as our annual “Matakana’s Got Talent” Gala day show. In 2012 I started teaching Music, Drama and Te Reo at the Mahurangi Montessori Unit and enjoyed this experience very much
Over the past 20 years I have taught full and part-time while raising 3 children and running a boutique wine import business with my husband. A nice complimentary addition to teaching!
I am a keen singer/ dancer and have always found a way to bring these two elements into the classroom whenever I can. I love gardening, theatre, watching movies and matching good food with beautiful wine.
I love the special character of Marian Catholic School. Our youngest son has had 3 very happy years here. I enjoy working with such a dedicated, hardworking team. I enjoy the moments we take to reflect and be thankful for what we have. Also to pray for family and friends in need.
