General Information

Tena koutou katoa. Originally from Rotorua, my husband and I moved to Hamilton in 1999. Since then we have had two beautiful children, aged 9 and 11 who both attend Marian Catholic School. I am proud to say I have been teaching here with the Marian School Whanau (family) for a number of years. This is a special place, not just a school. The Marian Whanau is a supportive, loving, Catholic community.

Whilst at Marian, I have taught our youngest tamariki (children) in New Entrants, Reading Recovery and Year Two. I have been working in education for more than 20 years. I began in early childhood straight from school, I studied through correspondence and then re-trained in primary/elementary (Waikato University) at the turn of the century. I am passionate about education-empowering students to grow socially, emotionally and academically. I love to learn myself and am always embracing professional learning.

In my classroom I seek to build strong relationships with students, providing a place where children belong, are motivated, actively engaged, take risks, feel challenged, take responsibility for their actions and learning, and get to celebrate success. We talk about growing our own minds. Going on the learning journey with children is always exciting as we challenge each other, discover, explore new ideas and best of all have fun. One thing I love about working here at Marian right now, is that we are consciously working together to find new and exciting ways to make learning better - more meaningful fun, challenging and powerful for the children. It’s an exciting place to be.
